EA-6B Prowler

In just a few seconds, an airdale down in the starboard-side catwalk will press the button to slingshot this EA-6B Prowler off catapult #2 at 180 MPH. The EA-6B is an electronic warfare aircraft that can detect and jam enemy radar and communication lines, collect tactical electronic intelligence, and provide laser-guided air-to-ground ordnance delivery.

Of all the various aircraft launched and recovered on the USS Enterprise, the Prowler is by far the loudest. Its two side-mounted engines generate 10,000 pounds of thrust each and can be heard throughout the ship when they are turned up.
