On May 2nd, 2006, the Big E left Norfolk Virginia for the Mediterranean Gulf in support of airstrike missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. The women and men of the Enterprise ship's company and airwing enjoyed a successful tour of the Mediterrean, through the Suez Canal, and off the shores of southeast Asia, with port calls including Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The ship returned to Norfolk on November 18th, to a welcoming crowd awaiting on Pier 12.
Our nation salutes and gives gratitude to the Enterprise sailors for an outstanding job well done! These pages however are truly dedicated to the friend and families who patiently endured the long seven months until this homecoming celebration. All photos in this section were taken and contributed by members of our Enterprise forum who were present on the pier upon the ship's return.
