BIG E IN PORTSMOUTH, U.K.

On June 15th, 2001 (exactly 5 years after my honorable discharge), the USS Enterprise pulled into Stokes Bay, Gosport, Hampshire, England, for a 3-day port call. US Navy international port calls play an important role for our at-seas fleet. They strengthen relations between the USA and our overseas allies, help to solidify our military presence across the world, and give our international friends the chance to meet the men and women who sail the world's greatest naval vessels.

And, of course, they also give our sailors a well-deserved break from the daily routine of at-sea life.

Thank you very much, Brian!
