Anchored In Stokes Bay

Many ports of call do not have the facilities to accomodate docking an aircraft carrier to a pier. Instead, the ship drops anchor out in the bay, and thousands of sailors and visitors will be shuttled on ferries throughout the ship's three-day port call. The anchors each weigh 32 tons; the chain links are 350 pounds each.
