Smitty,
Wonderful website. Our son is currently serving aboard the USS Enterprise. This site gave us some idea of the steps he walks each day. Thank you.

Wow talk about a step back in time. I served on the "Big E" from 1985 to 1989 as a DC1 in the Lightwater shop. I really liked the picture of the Fire Marshals office, as I would stand duty as the duty Fire Marshal while inport. Great site keep up the good work.

Great website! My father was on board The Big E from 69 to 72 (I think those are the right dates, he spent some time at Midway). I still am amazed at the photos he took, and seeing yours reminded me of a lot of them. My father was a Petty Officer Second Class in the Meterology Department. It is my dream that someday (after I get out of college) I will be able to serve on the same ship he did; a ship steeped in history and tradition, a ship that could only bear the name Enterprise.

As an appprentice machinist with Newport News Shipbulding, I remember doing some lathe work on some of the big brass valves in the Big E's fire control system back in 1960, just shortly before her commissioning. Looks like her active working life will be longer than mine!

Hi! Our son, Shawn Kincaid, is currently stationed on the USS Enterprise, and proudly so. He is in IS. We are so very proud of what he is doing in the Navy, but miss him terribly, 6 months is a long time. We send him and asd many of his crew mates 'care packages' from home as often as we can. We were able to get a tour of the Big E before they were deployed in April, and it was awesome! We are counting down the days until they get home. So take care of all our boys there on the Big E. God bless all of you and hurry home. With Love.
