March 31, 1969, The Enterprise arrive on Yankee Station Tonkin Gulf, Vietnam. The ship arrived on station at about noon, at 6:02 PM I landed on board in the C-2 Mail plane. We caught the #2 wire, this arresting gear engine was manned by non other than my friend Rodney Schroeder Madison, WI. I was on Enterprise 6 hours and received combat pay for the month of March, $50,
that $50 has earned a lot of money in the last 42 years. My pay rate at that time was $98 a month. |
